The Café Gibraltar is just inside the Medina entrance as you enter from the Grand Socco. It has been a popular cafe with locals and occasionally tourists for many years. It is very close to the old Medina food market.Inside, there is a simple decor with a very large flat-screen television to the left of the front door that shows news, films, National Geographic, football games and other programs.Outside there is a garden-like open sitting area that is partially hidden by plants and that has half a dozen tables with umbrellas to provide shade from the sun. Here it is delightfully cool, even on hot summer days, and the terrace provides a great spot to watch people passing by and absorbing the sounds of Morocco. In the warmer months, there is usually a delightful cooling breeze if you sit outside on the terrace or inside near the door. There is a reliably strong Wi-Fi connection available, but you must ask for the pass code from your waiter. The WiFi always works very well.Café Gibraltar is good place for a break after shopping in the media, and you can hail a taxi just 80 feet away at the Grand Socco. You don't have to trudge down hill to sit at the Petit Socco's Gran Café Central or Café Tingis.I often shop for fresh vegetables, spices and chicken in the Marché de Tanger at the Grand Socco. Afterwards, I usually stop at the Café Gibraltar to relax over an herbal tea and watch people or television before getting a petit taxi.
