Review
Café René is an excellent eatery tucked away in a quiet corner of Gloucester. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with wine bottles lining the low ceiling and classic indie music playing in the background. The food is delicious, with options ranging from traditional pub fare to gourmet burgers and wraps. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the prices are very reasonable. The live bands and festivals that Café René hosts are a great way to experience the local culture and meet new people. Whether you’re looking for a romantic evening out or a casual night with friends, Café René is the perfect spot.

Rude bar server telling me what to order before we looked at the menu. Food not what it was. Roast pork crackling was slimy. Won't waste money here again Almost £90 for poor service, lukewarm food and real drop in quality from previously experienced. Won't come again. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2 Price per person: £20–30

I visited cafe rene Saturday 1st August 2026 at roughly 4pm, the bar was virtually empty, I stood at the bar with cash in my hand waiting for someone to notice I was there!!! 2,3 the 4th person stood at the bar after me and got served, I couldn’t even make eye contact with bar staff, they did notice when I left however, stating I’ll take my money elsewhere!!! This has happened to me in this bar before!! I shan’t visit again, it’s a shame
