I am a regular customer at this Cafe Rio location and have always trusted the brand for its consistency (now ancient history). We are first time parents with a two week old newborn, and after a long day without a meal we chose Cafe Rio specifically because we believed we could count on it. Unfortunately, today was a nightmare. When I opened my salad, a live aphid crawled out. I have eaten at restaurants in many countries and have never encountered an insect in my food. Surely many people that say day ate many, because badly washed lettuce with one aphid means many more lurking inside the rest of the head. Finding one raises real concern about what else may have been in the salad. I also ordered the fire grilled steak with double meat. The portion was only about two to three ounces total, which is far short of what a double order should be. The steak itself had no sear, looked greyish, and appeared to have been steamed rather than grilled. After attempting to eat the meal, I developed severe gastrointestinal symptoms. Mismanagement by a Los Angeles PE firm who doesn’t seem to care has ruined this once great brand and restaurant. I will be going to Costa Vida in the future because they are Utah based (HQ in Lehi) and actually care about their customers. Not to mention their food is in a different realm of quality vs the present day Cafe Rio.

What a rip-off! I am so disappointed with my experience here: The Food: I paid almost $20 for a ridiculous amount of lettuce, 5 tiny pieces of pollo asado, and a minuscule scoop of rice and beans. The Service: I called the store and waited for 20 minutes. The line was so bad I couldn't hear a word the employee was saying, and she completely refused to help or offer any kind of discount/solution. ( The employees are amazing tho) The people cleaning are so friendly and ALWAYS helping... I wish food and portions were that great too

I love the salads but lately the salad has been chopped wayyy too big. It needs to be chapped smaller to mix better with the other ingredients. But the salad is still yummy. I wish they had small sized salads. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $10–20 Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
