We ordered food for take out around 630 on Friday on 6/5. We had to wait for about five to ten minutes to get my daughter soup that came with her kids meal after our order was taken. All other parts our meal were made and were waiting at the cashier. Finally someone came from the back to ask if we needed something. There were three others prepping orders at the counter. When we got to the cashier, a person with multicolored hair and piercings, she barely made eye contact and kept walking away. The store was busy but that’s an excuse for poor service. She just spit out a price and never confirmed our order. We eventually had to ask for the cup for my daughter’s meal and she said she did not see it in the order. The kids meal which comes with a drink. We ordered the Crème Brûlée cheesecake, that should have come with berries, sauce and whipped topping. There was nothing on it. When I came back to ask for it, I was told they were out of berries and raspberry sauces. I was seeing berries being put in a salad that was being made. The same berries that would have been on the cheesecake. A sauce could have easily been made. I was not made aware these items would be missing when I ordered it. I had to ask to get the information. I was annoyed and felt under valued as a customer with the experience with the cashier. We decided to try getting food for take out again on 6/6 around 5 pm. For both nights we spent approx $150. When I arrived the cashier from the night before was working, I was a little hesitant but the store was less busy this time and I gave her the benefit and f the doubt. I ordered three brisket sandwiches and 2 Chipotle Glazed salads. When the salads came to the cashiers , they told the worker it was only a half size and should have been a full size. The worker took it back and “remade” the salads. When the salad arrived it filled 3 qtr of the container. I asked about the size and I was told a half size salads fills the container and a full size salad fills it like a “L” shape. This confused me, because why would a half size file half the container but a full size does not fill the whole container. He assured me it was correct. When we arrived home and could assess the order better. One salad had no glaze or avocado and the other salad had minimal glaze that could not be tasted and a small piece of avocado on it. It appeared as if the workers only added extra lettuce to the salad when it was “corrected”, a new full size salad was not made. This was obvious because the markings on the container were the same as before. The salad did not taste the same has it has when we had it the past. We are willing to pay the prices for the food but when it is not made correctly or as listed in the menu it upsetting and make me not want to order food from Zupas again. I have been to this location on multiple occasions and it was always fine. My experience on Monday June 1 lunch hour was the absolute craziest retail dine-in experience I have had in ANY casual walk-up restaurant. We approached the ordering line only to be told sternly that they were not taking dine-in orders at this time as they were working to fulfill a large pick up order. We were told to take a seat at one of the many empty tables and that they would call us up when they were again able to help in-store guests. As a retail executive, I hope this customer experience approach is modified for both the customer and associate experience. That team member, whether a lead, a shift supervisor, a manager or a part time crew member should be reminded that in this day of pick up and delivery prevalence, an in-store dining customer is still worth some attention and priority during busy lunch hour (at a minimum) Meal type: Lunch Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3

When we are on the East side of Madison we like to stop at Cafe Zupas for lunch. We like being able to pick two items for a large selection of soups, salads and sandwiches. Everything we have tried has been excellent. The service is also excellent, friendly and helpful. That is something we really like when we eat out. We like the salads because of the large number of ingredients and different types. We also like the salads are made up fresh while we go through the line. The chocolate dipped strawberry is a nice touch to finish the meal with. Overall, a clean restaurant with great menu selections and great service.
