Nizuc is an incredible resort that my man + I were super fortunate to enjoy for a full week. The only downside was that this particular restaurant - the only breakfast option at Nizuc - is only so-so for the price. It was around $32 USD for an omelette that was nothing special - 2 eggs, mushrooms, cheese, spinach... I'm no chef and I make better omelettes in my own kitchen. Or you could enjoy the breakfast buffet for almost $50/person. It's not that the food at Cafe de la Playa is bad, it just doesn't stand out amidst all the other great dining at Nizuc, and it definitely was not worth the expense. All other restaurants at Nizuc are equally pricey, but the food is exceptional so you feel okay about it. However, this was the one place where we felt like Nizuc knows you're a captive audience (unless you leave the resort early in the morning) and they take advantage of that by price gouging a bit. B O T T O M L I N E : I hope you're a morning person who likes to head out early! If so, there are several great breakfast spots in Cancun. Unfortunately, this isn't one of them.

The best part of waking up was Cafe de la Playa food in my belly! I only ate a la carte during my stay at Nizuc Resort and Spa and I loved every single thing I ate and drank! The staff were all so helpful and lovely as were the complimentary chia seed puddings! I would be so full from y breakfasts that lunch was usually just a snack! The restaurant itself is very chic and has modern vibes to it. I would always sit outside beside the living plant wall because of the morning breezes and soft smells emitted from the plants. I honestly would love to get a meal here again soon!!

One of the best breakfast buffets I've had anywhere. Very high quality food with excellent service. Had breakfast here everyday during my stay at the Nizuc was so full we pretty much skip the lunch after. One of the best things about this buffet is that there is pretty much everything for everyone no matter what you are into, and everything from the quality of the ingredients, the quality of the cuisine, the service and the ambience was impeccable. Waking up early, going for my outdoor run as the sun rises, swim the laps while the pool is still empty and stopping by here to get a hearty satisfying breakfast just is the perfect way to start my vacation day in Cancun. Great job guys.
