One of the best historical places to visit in Acre, located in the center. The old Municipal Market, better known as Mercado Velho, was built at the end of the 1920s, under the administration of the Governor of the Territory, Hugo Carneiro. Its construction was a milestone in the history of urbanization in Rio Branco as it was the first large masonry construction in the city. Since 1920, the old market has been serving the population of Acre and enriching the local economy, with many good foods such as tapioca with plantains and sun-dried meat, Baixaria, açaí, jambú saltenha, rice kibbeh, black kibbeh, jambú risotto, pirarucu a casaca, cachaça de jambú, and much more of our regional cuisine. In addition to food, they have some stores, which sell herbs, chocolates, utilitarian items, souvenirs, religious products (from Umbanda, Candomblé, Daime and Christianity), plants, indigenous accessories, and some clothes, in addition to the famous items made with the material- most notable cousin in the history of Acre: rubber. In the surrounding square we have various arts, with wood and beads, regional fairs, plants and everything good. I always recommend trying the fried plantain, the tapioca and buriti popsicle, and my favorite bonbon, cupuaçu bonbon from Neide (delicious bonbons from Acre).
