I've had a few visits here, coming from Cramlington. Staff and food are lovely. Very relaxing place to chat with friends, or read. I'll say one thing that needs careful watching. 2 of the lattes I've had the milk wasn't textured - it just appeared at hot milk. Something I'm sure which can easily be rectified. A nice enough cafe but OMG it's expensive!! The tiniest piece of lemon drizzle cake, the only gluten free option available, was ridiculously priced. We had 3 hot chocolates (which weren't hot), 1 coffee and 2 weeny bits of cake, was almost £20! Sorry but we won't be back..... Food is decent but i don’t know who the owner thinks she is charging £7 for a small pannini. Extortionate prices and much better cheaper food just round the corner at Dickinsons. Jacket potatoes are also extortionately priced, payed almost £20 for 2 with 2 cans of pop. Price board is very intentionally misleading aswell with the price in big writing with the word “from” in tiny writing so you can barely see it. Would be a much better place with a new owner Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £10–20 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

Morning Joe, My name is Anthony Finn, Director of Caffe Ginevra UK Ltd. Joe, you’re clearly an economics expert with sound knowledge of the food industry but for the benefit of anyone reading who isn’t, I’d just like to elaborate: £6.95 panini, let’s take the popular Tikka Melt option…. VAT £1.16 Focaccia bread £0.60 Chicken Tikka mayo £1.83/portion Cheese £0.20/portion Homemade coleslaw £0.40/portion Side salad £0.35/portion A sale net of VAT of £5.79 with a cost price of £3.38. As you know, cafes/coffee shops should run at a 60-70% margin so actually Joe, we should be charging more for these, shouldn’t we? Current wage bill of 41% of gross profit means our £2.41 gross on sandwiches leaves £1.45. Rent/rates in this unit at the beach are £125 per day and our electricity bill is currently around £2k each month (£66.66 per day). In order to replace broken equipment, train our team and dare I say…take my family on holiday….we have to try and achieve that elusive “profit”. Comparing coffee shops with bakeries/butchers etc isn’t a fair comparison either, comparing us with Starbucks, Costa etc would be a better option although we bring food to your table unlike others.
