This place, now called LaBraca is a hot mess.  AC not working, bartender untrained, it smells sour at the bar like an old damp washcloth, upholstery outdated, menu so-so.  I have been coming here for years when it was Cafe Lamberti's. Always had good service and great bartenders.   Even though this restaurant has great views-- everything else is sub par.

The restaurant is now called Labarca. The place has a very nice atmosphere.  Beautiful views. The bar was extremely crowded as this turns into a Quasi nightclub feel beginning around 730pm. The crowd is not young bit gets very loud with live music and dancing in a small area by the bar. There is no divider between the bar area and the dining so it does get a bit loud, I found nothing wrong with that but some may. The crab and corn soup was very good and tasty. I had the braised short ribs. They were good but the sauce was just kind of bland. I enjoyed it, but certainly not the best I have ever had. My wife had the lobster gnocchi. Again, good but not outstanding. Some things to improve the experience, I should not have to ask for more water but had to so so each time my glass was empty for at least 5 minutes. This just should not be the kind of service you would expect at a white linen table service. Also, there were no salt and pepper on the table and had to ask them for some after my meal was delivered to try and flavor up the meal. No bread or butter or oil offered, which is what I would expect a nice place to offer, but just was not. The meal was good, the place was good, but a few small enhancements coul have made it great if not much better.

LaBarca is the restaurant in the Seaview Harbor Marina (formerly Cafe Luciano Lamberti?) and the new place is the hidden gem south of the bridge.  I'm tempted not to post the first review as LaBarca will become the next place where there is a nightly waiting list and the cachet of "who's been there."  It's that good. I digress from a simply outstanding dinner: From the attentive waitstaff to the front of house to the manager roaming the floor and greeting guests, LaBarca sets a dining and service standard commensurate with the view.  If you're there half an hour before sunset you get one of the best views on the Atlantic side of the states; the renovation is new enough that they still don't have sunscreens in place! It's rare for us to find a menu that requires hard thought and a decision tree to pick 2-3 courses.  Usually we have some go-to standards and occasionally veer off into something adventurous. Before we ordered, we knew we'd be back to sample more of the menu, from hot appetizers to a breadth of mains that were equally tantalizing as they went by on the dining floor. Normally we will order a salad and a main course; but the appetizers were calling to us so we dove intro bruscetta with crabmeat, clams casino, two salads and two variations of Messina (veal and chicken).   Clams casino is one of my more obscure yardsticks -- they range from a few forlorn breadcrumbs on top of a butter drowned mollusc to a heavy dough plotzed on the half shell.  LaBarc sets the new bar, very high -- a great mix of crab meat, light bread crumbs, and a creamy base (mustard maybe?) with nicely done bacon that defines perfection.  My spinach and beet salad with goat cheese had a truffle honey dressing that balanced the sweetness with the truffle oil in just the right proportions -- again, way too easy to get wrong. Main courses were huge -- 4 split chicken breasts with fresh mozzarella and a light white sauce, with shrimp and a side of pasta.   We were tempted to sample the lucious looking desserts, and at no time were we rushed or doted upon.   We'll be back, many times.
