Dysfunctional service Nice attentive staff but poor communication. Half an hour after waiting for our food, we were told they didn't have a main and we had to chose an alternative. This came an hour after we arrived. Bizarrely with 4 sides, 2 from the first dish, that the manager felt was a goodwill gesture. We related to her how this was perhaps better done in discussion with the customer and got a robotic apology. Good food but let down by the service.

To whoever has been to Caffe Vivo by the Quayside in Newcastle before; it has definitely changed since we last visited. Over priced as it has always been, but in the past we have been happy enough to pay for the taste and quality of food. They now seem to have changed the menu and are trying too hard for the same premium pricing strategy. There are better Italians in town for more reasonable price. Caffe Vivo is just not working for us any longer, neither in terms of the taste of food nor service. Never again!
