Returning from New Brunswick, we stopped in Calais in hopes of finding something to eat before heading out in the back roads of Maine. Maybe the few restaurants there are better than they look, but we were not hopeful after driving around awhile.
Then we found Yancy's and gave the beer-battered fish and chips a try. The Haddock was moist beneath the crisp batter, and the fries were very good too.
The service was very friendly and attentive. Far better than most places.
Glad we stopped. Would like to try their calzone, Stromboli, and pizza, but we won't be in the area. If you're in Calais and hungry, stop in at Yancy's.
