Food is gross.  We came for chinese new years eve and it was pretty empty.  It was expensive for what it was.   Nothing was good, as it was either not seasoned or overseasoned. We ordered the pig ears dish which was not fresh. The fish wasnt great either.  I wouldnt go back.

Sadly we came here often when it was Green Island.   We came tonight and noticed the name had changed, though much of the original menu remained intact with additional hot pots and stews added. We ordered: House Special Fried Tofu - wow, sadly lacking flavor. Not as good as it used to be. House special filet mignon - ok, but sauce tasted almost like bottled  Lee Kum Kee. Fish filet  in corn sauce - tasteless and the texture was all wrong Honey walnut shrimp - we ordered this for the kids, who didn't complain but the mayo shrimp and walnuts were just a little off. Hong Kong waffles - wow even this the batter tasted a little off.  The kids did not complain though. Pork belly with preserved vegetable - this was the only good dish we had. I don't know what happened to this place.  It used to be pretty awesome.   It was probably the most disappointing meal I have eaten in Rowland Heights in a long time.  I don't want to talk in superlatives too much and sound like Donald Trump, but the food really was, well, extremely mediocre at best. The service was just fine.  I recognize some of the servers who were from the original Green Island.   This is a one-star review for the food. Maybe that is harsh but you were warned. Good luck to the new ownership -- this place won't last too long. Maybe to be fair this should be a two-star review but it is one-star when the previous incarnation set higher expectations.

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. I had the worst experience here which was exacerbated by offensive and unprofessional customer service (by management, no less) that rose to the level of assault. This place used to be Green Island, but changed its name to Gourmet Fish (which is a terrible name, but that's not the point). For all intents and purposes, it is the same restaurant with the same ownership. Indeed, their business license in the corner of the restaurant says Green Island and they still have a banner in front of the restaurant that says Green Island. I had two gift certificates from Green Island which do not have expiration dates printed on them. Even if they did, under California law, expiration dates on gift certificates are not permissible, except for under very limited circumstances. I tried to use my Green Island gift certificates here and was told they no longer honor them because they changed their name to Gourmet Fish. We asked to speak to the manager to explain our situation, but the manager stayed in the corner of the restaurant and refused to come to our table to speak with us. When we left, we told the management that they should not be operating this way and that we were going to look into filing a complaint against the restaurant for their illegal business practices. The manager (bald guy with glasses) followed us out of the restaurant and demanded to see our driver's licenses. When we refused, he started taking photos of us with his cell phone and threatened to use the photos to try to identify us. This is the single most belligerent and unprofessional instance of customer service by a manager I have ever experienced. Best of luck to this business if this is how it treats customers.
