I asked for straws, and he just held the straws, which will be going in our drinks, with his bare hands and threw them on the table, I kept saying thank you in hopes he’ll be a bit nicer to us but he barely responded when we did say thank you, he also forgot our item we had to ask again and wouldn’t remember until we reminded him.He eventually warmed up to us but I still didn’t appreciate his earlier behaviour.
When the bill came, after paying he saw the receipt and said , with a snarky attitude “10? Usually it’s 15%” and rudely walked away. No wishing us a goodnight whatsoever.
First of all, tips aren’t mandatory, second of all I will tip when I am satisfied with the service I have gotten; though I wasn’t and third of all, you do not say that to your customers. That is very unprofessional to discuss tips with your customers, you do not do that. I am a server as well, if people didn’t tip I wouldn’t say anything because I do not know their story, I don’t know what they’re going through so I leave it but I still treat them with respect because I want them to feel at home and to feel welcome in an environment, if they do tip even if it’s a small amount I’m grateful, thank you and I will still wish you a good day/evening/night because you chose our restaurant and I want you to have a great experience.
This was my mom’s 50th and my brother’s 10th birthday. The food was great, and other servers seemed okay, but the senior Caucasian male server made us very uncomfortable. Food 10/10, service? If you’re picky about tipping or don’t think tipping is customary don’t bother because for sure the servers will talk about you or treat you very unkindly. Never in my entire life have I ever come across someone that unprofessional and nasty to customers. Very sickening.
