Here’s a polished version that is firm and factual, while making clear what you personally observed rather than stating an unproven accusation as fact: I had dinner at Canoe in Toronto with a friend on September 8. Our reservation was for 8:45 p.m., and everything went well until it was time to pay the bill. Our bill was approximately $277. I paid $300 in cash using three $100 bills. My friend was sitting directly across from me and also saw me put down the three $100 bills. About 10 minutes later, our waitress returned and told me that the amount I had given her was not correct. She came back with one $50 bill and five $20 bills — $150 in total — and apologized for taking so long to come back. I was extremely surprised because I was certain that I had handed over three $100 bills, and my friend had witnessed it as well. I did not want to create an argument or confrontation at the restaurant, so I gave her another $300 and took back the $150 she presented to me. After leaving and thinking about what happened, I became very uncomfortable with the situation. Based on what both my friend and I witnessed, I believe there was a serious issue with how my cash payment was handled. I am sharing this experience so that management is aware and so other customers can be careful when paying in cash. If paying cash, I would strongly recommend counting the money clearly in front of the server and asking for the payment to be confirmed immediately. What started as an enjoyable dinner unfortunately ended with a very disappointing and concerning experience. This wording is strong but avoids directly calling the restaurant or waitress a “cheat,” which is better when posting a public review about a disputed cash transaction. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $100+

Don’t know why this place is rated so highly. We go to restaurants often and have gone to restaurants around the world so I know what great food is. This was not it. Great views of skyline, worth the experience but not for that price. I like to be able to taste the flavours, food was bland and if I hadn’t been told what was in the dish, I would nt have known.I am a dessert person but even the desserts were mediocre, though the presentation was good.
Parking is free but difficult to find.
Overall, it’s a one time go for the experience, I returned home hungry and had to make myself a sandwich. Didn’t like the food, or the limited selection. But the ambience is fantastic, as is the view of the skyline, which one can get by going there only for drinks. Pricey for what it offers, especially when it was so pub like noisy.
