During my stay in Rochefort in late Feb, I had the pleasure of dining multiple times at Restaurant Le Cap Nell. As a solo traveler, I found it to be one of the most enjoyable and memorable dining experiences of my trip. Among the various dishes I tried, the fresh oysters and the desserts stood out the most — absolutely delightful and a true highlight of coastal French cuisine. The steak was also excellent, although once it was cooked slightly more than my original request. Nevertheless, the overall culinary quality and attention to detail made every meal a pleasure. The restaurant offers a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere, perfect for savoring a leisurely meal by the harbor. The set menu, priced around €30, represented outstanding value for the quality of food, service, and ambiance. One charming quirk to note: the opening hours can be a little unpredictable — on one occasion, I returned eagerly for another meal, only to find the doors closed! It seems that to enjoy such wonderful food, a little luck and good timing are part of the adventure — very French, and all part of the experience. Overall, Restaurant Le Cap Nell delivers a delightful, authentic taste of Rochefort hospitality. I look forward to returning, and highly recommend it to fellow travelers seeking both great seafood and a touch of charming spontaneity!
