After years of passing by Carrabba's Italian Grill (CIG) on my daily commute, I finally stopped by for a meal. The thing is, this was a last-minute thing. Now I love going to restaurants when it is not busy, sometimes that's a good thing, sometimes not so much. It is going when it's alive can result in lower quality of food.  When it's slow, you would think the experience will be better, and most of the time (based on my experience), it is.  On this occasion, I got a little bit of both. Let me explain. The restaurant is very roomy, nice bar at the entrance, and plenty of comfortable seating. I love that CIG has a lot of booths that hold six people comfortably.  There are also plenty of 2 and 4-seater tables.  The bar area has a lot of seating as well as a matter of fact, and I'm considering having my "noon-day excursions for appetizers and drinks here. So I will take advantage of the Happy Hour. Though the restaurant is roomy and clean, the dining room needs renovation.  Carpet looked worn, and the ceiling tiles were dirty.  The tables are outdated.  The bathrooms were clean, which in my opinion, is an excellent way to gauge the cleanliness of the kitchen.  Speaking of the kitchen, it was an open kitchen where you could see the chef making your food. I like that. On the menu, your options were many, and each was explained clearly.  Our server, Shannon, not only did she have a positive and humorous attitude, she was very knowledgeable about the menu items, including the specials. She made some recommendations which I usually order, but I had my mind on a thick delicious steak.  So I ordered just that with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. Now one thing you can expect at an Italian restaurant is you will take home leftovers.  That is one of the main reasons why I chose CIG because I knew I would have enough for lunch tomorrow. I ordered my medium steak, and in the end, I cut it, but it led into medium-rare in the middle. This was fine with me cause I knew when I warmed it up the next day, it would cook to my desired taste.  Fried calamari was our appetizer, and it did not fail.  Not only did we get it fast, but it was also served with some excellent dipping sauces, and it was fresh out of the fryer. Before coming here, review the menu online cause there is a lot to choose from. Most of the meals come with a choice of soup or salad.  Though our experience was in and out for about an hour, if it is busy, this could take a bit longer. Service was excellent as Shannon brought out our food with freshly grated cheese to put over it.  A lot of the entries have some sauce that is served over it; I suggest having that put on the side because I had the mushroom sauce on my steak, and it was a bit heavy-handed.  So, I give this the following ratings out of 5 stars. Customer Service 5 stars Quality of Food 3.5 stars Ambiounce 4.5 stars Value 5.0 stars.   Not a big Italian food person, but I would visit here again. Happy Yelping!
