First of all it’s kind of ridiculous that water is free everywhere else but $195 pesos here. Additionally, when we went it was at most 30% full so we asked if reservations were mandatory and they confirmed even though it was pretty much empty you wouldn’t be able to eat at Casa Amate without a reservation. We got the mushroom soup to start and ordered the red snapper and lamb as our mains. That plus a cocktail was $200 USD. Pretty expensive for mediocre food. The mushroom soup was pretty bland. The red snapper was good not great and the lamb was just a poorly composed dish. The lamb was super fatty and they served it on top of a bed of black beans and soppressata which only made it heavier. The highlight was honestly the free bread and the little bonbons they gave to us at the end. I would suggest eating at the Fairmont or Banyan Tree instead of any of the Andaz restaurants.
