This place had excellent customer service. Super nice and helpful. I had the chorizo with huevo taco in a flour tortilla. It was a bit salty. (It can be me, because I dont eat super salty food) Salsa verde was good! I also had a pastor huarache. It was so big ! I didn't finish it. It was very good, loved the little pineapple chunks. My sister had the agua de coco it was delish! I would totally go back and get a big cup of that. ( I had coffee from somewhere else, that's why I didnt order and agua.) Overall everyone enjoyed their food. WARNING: Half the machete is still big.

Everyone so far has given Casita Nicole Antojitos Mexicanos five stars. I am giving Casita Nicole Antojitos Mexicanos five stars. You are probably going to be giving Casita Nicole Antojitos Mexicanos five stars. So will your mother, your father, the guy who fixes your car, your cat and your dog. The place is that good. * * * Three Headline Stories about Casita Nicole's. One. Lots and lots of people want to eat at Casita Nicole's. There was a non-stop line of customers waiting at her truck. Nearly all of them were working class Mexicans. They were not only there because the food is cheap and good. They were there because you can get Mexican dishes at Casita Nicole's you can't get anywhere else. This last point is huge. Two. Casita Nicole's is tied with Wasota on North Loop for having the ugliest location for a food truck in Austin. It is located on the side of the Quick-C Convenience store on Menchaca. The parking lot is already kind of downscale and grungy. Worse, The Quick-C Convenience store dumps all of its junk right next to the tables where you eat. (Nothing organic or unsafe. Just lots of metal trash.) Casita Nicole's itself has limited dumpster access so some of her own packing boxes for food supplies have to be stuck off to the side. So you can take as a given that the view won't be pretty. You are here to eat, not to look at the landscape. The food will more than make up for the marginal scenery. Three. She has some standard items on her menu. But most of what she has here are Mexico City and other Central Mexican specialties you don't get at other places in Austin. Machetes. Pambazos. Flor de Calabaz. Huarache. Plus she tosses in a few custom recipes like her own versions of hamburgers and her own version of topped French fries. I had a Pambazo de Pollo that was absolutely sensational. This is a toasted torta with the spice and fire right in the torta. The spice and fire is also right in the chicken ... and no there is not a single jalapeno in sight. The fire comes from other redder chiles with more body and more gusto. Add really good queso fresco and fresh vegetables on top And you have an awesome sandwich. Mine would have been a mess to eat just picking it up (Although I guess this is what the other customers do). I forked and knifed it which was fine. I was in a supreme state of Mexican food happiness. My lovely wife is not a big fan of Mexican food and almost never eats out of food trucks. She thought her fish taco was extremely superior. * * * Arguably, this is one of the finest Mexican food trucks in Austin. To be fair, I have hundreds more to eat at before I can make a definitive statement on the matter. However, I have eaten at a lot of them, and Casita Nicole's is definitely the current winner. T-Loc's Sonoran Hot Dogs would be the other winner - and T-Loc's is a niche place that pretty much concentrates on hot dogs and burritos. Casita Nicole's is a place you could take out of town visitors who want to get the Mexican food they can't get at home. You will have to warn them in advance about the downscale funky ambience. But if they can work with a convenience store parking lot with trash, They get the right to eat supremely supremely well.
