Nestled away from the touristy hustle and bustle of Venice, Snack Bar Castello is a gem of an establishment that offers delicious Italian cuisine at reasonable prices. The cozy ambiance and friendly service make it a perfect spot for a quick snack or a leisurely meal. The interior design is simple yet charming, with wooden tables and chairs that give the place a rustic feel. The price range is quite affordable, making it an excellent option for budget-conscious travelers. Located just a few steps away from Giardini and a 10-minute walk from S.Marco square, Snack Bar Castello is easy to find and accessible.

One of the specialties of this eatery is its gluten-free pizza, which is absolutely delicious. Other must-try dishes include the Tagliatelle alla Bolognese, Pizza Diavola, Spaghetti Carbonara, Spaghetti Frutti di Mare, and Spaghetti Vongole. For those who love seafood, the Spaghetti con Frutti di Mare is a must-try. The bar serves a good choice of traditional Venetian snacks called "cicchetti" or "cicheti," small slices of bread with marinated sardines, cod mousse, octopus with sauce, and many others. They are wonderful together with a glass of white wine or a spritz.

The cocktails and Irish coffee are amazing and reasonably priced. The establishment also offers gluten-free pasta and a lot of vegetarian options. The staff is very friendly and speaks English well, ensuring a comfortable dining experience for all visitors. The outdoor seating area provides a beautiful view of the canal, making it an ideal spot for a romantic dinner or a casual meal with friends. The restaurant even offers warm blankets when it gets colder in the evening, adding a nice touch to the dining experience. Overall, Snack Bar Castello is an excellent place to enjoy authentic Italian cuisine in a cozy and friendly atmosphere.

We visited Snack Bar Castello after seeing positive reviews highlighting vegan options, but the experience was disappointing. There are a few vegan dishes clearly labelled on the menu, but the selection is very limited and quite basic. We ordered spaghetti with garlic and mixed vegetables, and despite the restaurant being fairly quiet, it took a long time to arrive. The portion size was small for the price, so overall value felt poor. The main issue came with the bill. We were overcharged, and when we questioned it, the waiter initially said it was because the dish was vegan. When we pointed out that the menu doesn’t mention any extra charge for vegan options, he went away, then returned and removed the €6, calling it a mistake. It didn’t feel convincing. The whole experience felt slightly off, with slow service and questionable billing. Also worth noting that they advertise no cover charge, but that’s standard for most places on the same street, so it’s not really a differentiator. Overall, not somewhere I’d recommend given the experience. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Price per person: €10–20
