We left the Royal Mile due to congestion. Went down to Grassmarket St. where we found this lovely Cafe and enjoyed a mocha, and the BEST cannoli and lemon squares. So good, we returned a couple hours later for equally great dinner. Upon leaving we met the owners nephew, Salo, who was a gem! When in Edinburgh, take a break and treat yourself to the fine baked goods and dinner food and maybe meet Salo. Thanks for a great experience! Such a great spot! I loved the breakfast here so much that I had to come back a second time during my trip. I got the scottish breakfast and it was absolutely delicious, but what really made the experience was the service. The ladies working there are so, so lovely, welcoming, and attentive. Had a wonderful experience at Castlegate Cafe! The ambience is warm, inviting, and full of charm. The staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming, providing excellent service with a smile. The food and coffee was absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared. Everything about the visit was enjoyable, and I can’t wait to come back. Highly recommended!
