Castroni is one of the few old school specialty food spots in Rome (there are several around the city). Aside from the classic breakfast and lunch "al bancone" for a quick cappuccino and cornetto or chinotto and tramezzino, you'll also find candy and coffee from around the world, as well as a good selection of wine and spirits from far off lands. Not as relevant anymore because you can now find many imported things at the local supermarket, but they're still the only place you can find Ginger Beer in Rome!
