Candor Mexican Grill was a small restaurant we decided to take a chance on, and we were glad we did. One of the first things we noticed was the more modern, clean decor. It had a different feel from many of the more traditional Mexican restaurants we have visited, and we liked the change. The portions were generous without being overwhelming, and everything we ordered tasted good. In fact, both of us completely cleared our plates, which is usually a pretty good sign that we enjoyed ourselves. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, but it felt comfortable and inviting. Overall, it was a very good experience and a nice surprise from a place we really did not know much about before walking in. We would definitely consider coming back when we are in the area. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. We were initially seated directly in front of the restroom door, so every time someone came out we had a view straight into the bathroom, along with the unpleasant odor. I asked to be moved, and thankfully the staff accommodated our request. My daughter ordered the steak, and it was one of the toughest steaks we’ve ever had. It was like chewing on rubber. The cut was extremely thin, with a visible membrane running through it, and it had a texture and flavor more like organ meat than steak. The service also left a lot to be desired. We were never offered refills on our water while we were eating. Our glasses stayed empty until we had already finished our meals. To top it off, the dining room lights kept flickering throughout our visit. When I asked about it, an employee said it had been happening ever since the heavy rain. It made the atmosphere feel neglected and took away from the overall experience. Unfortunately, between the seating, the food quality, the lack of attentive service, and the condition of the restaurant, this was not a place we’ll be returning to.
