We had reservations for tonight. When we arrived, we were told that our reservation was for bar seats. I showed the reservation reminder sent earlier today that said we had a table reservation. She said the info she had said bar seats. I asked to speak to the owner, and she said she was the owner. She wanted me to show her an email to prove we had reserved a table. I couldn't find the email on my phone, but asked whether seeing it would change anything. She said no, all the tables were reserved for others. We could sit on the bar stools. At the time, there were several empty tables inside and one outside. Since we didn't have reservations anywhere else, we took the bar seats but said we felt that as the person in charge, her attitude was unacceptable and wrong, particularly since the next patrons had not yet arrived. The server was lovely and the food was very good. One dish was delicious and I asked whether the chef would share the recipe. He did that. We were not charged for the wine we consumed, presumably because of the unpleasantness of our greeting by the owner. And while the food and service were very good, we won't return to Cello. Patrons should be treated respectfully and reservations should be honored. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.I do want to clarify what happened with your reservation. Your reservation was made specifically for bar seating and not a table, which is reflected in our reservation system and reservation history. The automated reminder you received used the word “table,” but that is generic language from the reservation platform and does not indicate a specific seating type. When you arrived, you asked if we could move you to a table. Unfortunately, we were fully reserved and weren’t able to accommodate that change. The tables that appeared empty were reserved for guests arriving later that evening. We even reached out to another guest to see if we could make an adjustment on their arrival time, but unfortunately that wasn’t possible. We honored the reservation you made, while also needing to honor the reservations of the guests coming in before/after you. As a very small restaurant with limited seating, we aren’t always able to accommodate seating changes once we’re fully booked. We would never want a guest to feel uncomfortable, and we did everything we could that evening to find an alternative while respecting the reservations on our books. I appreciate your kind words about our team and the food, and I’m glad I was able to share the recipe with you. We absolutely agree that patrons should be treated respectfully and reservations should be honored, and that is what we strive to do for every guestSincerely, Chef Ryan
