The Italian stew with tomatoes (added noodles and crispy rice) had a generous amount of seafood and flavour. After the crispy rice absorbs the broth, it somehow becomes a little like risotto. The yuxiang eggplant was good but unmemorable. The corn pancake was chewy and in general tasty and a taste that most would like (have to be ok with condensed milk on pancake tho). I would say the food was great but I would hesitate on coming again as it was not super distinctive that I can only have it in Seoul. If I were local though, i would come regularly for good food at a reasonable price. Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

(August 2025) Popped by at Choi Hyun Seok restaurant after watching the Culinary Wars on Netflix 6 months ago. Reservation is required (via Naver or Catchtable), and the booking fee will be deducted from your final bill The restaurant is tucked in an alley (refer to entrance image), walk down to the basement and you’ll be greeted with a cool industrial space with a huge Gundam in the middle. We ordered the [1] Signature Molecular Cooking Meat (-196°C Gochujang Ice), [2] Italian Seafood Soup (Tomato Vujavés), [3] Accelerator fried eggplant (feat. fish mayo), and [4] Accelerator French Fries(Truffle). The molecular dish was cold and slightly chewy (reminded me of jellyfish texture). You can pair it with crackers if raw beef is too strong for your tastebuds, but it’s actually good on its own! Slightly sweet and very addictive. The Italian Seafood Soup is a must-order. Tomato-based, slightly spicy, and packed with generous seafood. Super flavourful! A huge call-out to seafood lovers. The fried eggplant was crispy outside and soft inside (similar to fried oyster mushroom texture). Fries were solid, nothing to pick about. I would say it's a fun and creative dining experience. Worth visiting at least once hehe! — Molecular cooking meat (-196 degree gochujang ICE) Signature Italian Seafood Soup (Tomato Vujavés) Signature Accelerator fried eggplant (feat. fish mayo) Accelerator French fries (truffle) Price per person: ₩30,000–40,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

It's one of the many restaurants run by a famous chef that appeared on a Netflix show. Due to the chef's popularity, the restaurant became almost impossible to get in without a reservation. The entrance can be difficult to find, so be aware when you're following a map. The food and the overall experience was quite good, but I'm not sure if the hype around the chef or the restaurant is entirely warrented. Don't get me wrong, the food here was great, but there have been some misses in my opinion. I would personally say that the tomato and chicken noodle soup didn't offer anything new with the introduction of tomato to the traditional dish. And the fried rice almost seemed under seasoned and there wasn't a lot of rice for the price. Finally, the melon with the prosciutto barely had any prosciutto on the melon and we could barely taste it. But the melon itself was very sweet and juicy. But despite the misses, there have been some amazing hits. The beef tartar with shrimp and sauce that's been frozen with liquid nitrogen was phenomenal and I would eat it any day of the week. Because the sauce has been frozen with liquid nitrogen, it gives a cool, vapour when it's sprinkled on top of the food, and it paired well with the perfectly seasoned beef tartar and the sweetness of the shrimp. There were other dishes that were pretty tasty, like the roasted rice cake, and truffle black bean noodle. But as good as they were, I didn't think that everything met the hype generated around the chef and the restaurant. But despite that, I would still recommend this place if you can get a seat because there are real gems in the menu. Price per person: ₩20,000–30,000 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
