Cetli is an excellent restaurant located just off the beaten path in Tulum. With a charming atmosphere and attention to detail, it's the perfect spot for a romantic dinner. The complimentary appetizer plate is a great way to get a taste of the local flavors, from cheese empanadas to grasshoppers. The house specialty, Chile en Nogada, is a must-try with its poblano pepper filled with minced beef and dried fruit, covered in a creamy walnut sauce and topped with pomegranate seeds. Other delicious dishes include the Metztli, a pachiuki filled with black mushrooms and covered in a red peanut mole, and the chicken enchiladas with green almond mole. The dessert selection is also outstanding, with a bread pudding served with cream sauce and strawberry granita. The staff are friendly and accommodating, making sure you have a wonderful experience. Prices are on the higher side, but worth it for the quality of the food. If you're looking for an authentic Mexican dining experience, Cetli is the place to go.

Best in the city
This award is based on the analysis of multiple factors, including reviews, ratings, and user engagement trends on Restaurant Guru.
Cetli is just outside the city and the tourist hustle and bustle, located along the road that leads to the ruins of Cobà. Inside, white walls are enlivened by colorful paintings and antiques, while wood tables and chairs set a rustic tone. They have fashioned a truly Mayan experience here, where the generous and tasty dishes are as colorful as the art decorating the walls...

Cetli is nothing short of magical. The space itself feels like stepping into old-world Mexico with high ceilings, stucco walls, rounded windows and doorways. It’s the kind of place that wraps around you like a warm embrace the moment you walk in. The service matched the atmosphere perfectly. Warm, attentive, and genuinely delighted to welcome you into their home. You can feel the love before the food even arrives. We started with the stuffed pumpkin, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Then, to our delight, they brought out a generous spread of breads, garlic butter, and cheeses. The garlic butter alone was divine and deserved its own standing ovation. For our mains we shared the shrimp, chicken with green mole, fish in tamarind, and grilled fish. Every single dish tasted like something a grandmother spent all day preparing fresh, thoughtful, and full of care. We finished with a shared chocolate cake that hit every note. Don’t leave without browsing the shop. Stunning handmade clothing and jewelry (I’m still thinking about a gorgeous amber and silver ring I didn’t buy, learn from my mistake). We brought home moles, local honey shampoo and conditioner, and copal incense. As someone who only burns natural incense, I can say without hesitation: this is the real thing. Pure, grounding, and absolutely no synthetic scent. Cetli is a full experience; food, culture, beauty, and soul. Go. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $300–400
My boyfriend and I enjoyed trying Cetli during our vacation. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the dishes are fantastically unique. We ordered the chile en nogada, ixoxoctic, and the corn cake. The mole on the chiles en nogada and the sauce with the corn cake was very dark chocolate forward which doesn't appeal to my palate, but I loved my experience at Cetli all the same. The ixoxoctic dish was delicious and earthy! We really really appreciated the server (we don't remember his name but he was the only person serving on 3/26/26 around 1 pm) who kindly ordered a taxi for us when we asked for the number for one. Gran servicio! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Lunch

I thought I was going to have one of the best dinner experiences of my life but unfortunately decoration excels the food. Traditionally Mexican cuisine but most of the dishes are frozen and micro-waved thus flavour is almost none.
