A beautiful place that I’ve been wanting to go visit for a while. I unfortunately did not realize that their lunch buffet was only on weekdays, which was the primary reason I wanted to come here. I still wanted to give it an honest try, so I got the butter chicken lunch, a chai, and a dish called SPDP, which was similar to pani puri. And while the food was beautiful and very tasty, the serving size was lacking, especially for the price. The butter chicken thali was $20, and the SPDP was $10. Being out $30 for the small amount of food was unsatisfying, and I considered stopping by Jimmy John’s not too far from here afterwards. Maybe it’s just because I’m not from Atlanta, but this is a fairly steep price as an Indian person who makes food like this. The chai having unlimited refills was great, but it brings me to my next qualm, being the service. The server seemed disinterested, inattentive, and just generally not pleased to be serving us. I work a full customer service job where I am being paid specifically to put on a good face and basically a show for my customers, so that they feel good when they leave my place of work. It makes me feel good doing it, but the only time the server was happy and chatting with us was when she was giving us the check, which made me feel as if she was happy we were leaving. I had two chais, one when eating and one to go, which is approximately the number of times I could get the server’s attention. I love chai, chai is my life, and I really wished that I could have maybe a couple more. If you as an eating establishment say “free refills” on something, you should really not try your hardest to make those refills inaccessible, especially for something as cheap to make as chai. The chai itself was really nice though. I would really like to revisit this place when they’re doing their buffet, but this visit left a bitter taste in my mouth, and I’m not sure I want to return at this point. I love the concept of supporting my people and their wonderful cuisine, but I’m tired of supporting subpar businesses too. “A Truly Memorable Dining Experience!” My wife and I were visiting Atlanta from Canada and decided to try Chai Pani in Decatur – and we are so glad we did! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with genuine warmth and hospitality. The atmosphere in the evening was vibrant yet cozy, giving us a true taste of Indian culture and charm. The food was outstanding – full of flavor, beautifully presented, and unlike anything we’ve had before. Each dish felt authentic, fresh, and made with care. It was a whole new culinary experience for us, and we loved every bite. We were also impressed by how pet-friendly the place was – it really shows how welcoming and thoughtful the team is. The staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, and their kindness made the night even more special. Delicious, authentic Indian food. Warm and friendly staff. Great evening vibe & hospitality. Pet-friendly! If you’re in Atlanta and looking for a place that offers not just a meal but an experience, Chai Pani Decatur is a must-visit. We left with happy hearts, full stomachs, and wonderful memories. Highly recommended!
