Champion is a great restaurant located in Vyborg. It has a very friendly atmosphere and is popular amongst locals. The menu is quite diverse, offering a range of local and imported beers, as well as a selection of dishes such as Fillet Steak and Fries, Caesar Salad, Red Fish in a Bowl, Chicken with Spinach, and Bavarian Sausages. Prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. The staff is polite and helpful.
The interior is designed in a typical sports pub style, with sports paraphernalia and TVs broadcasting hockey games. The local beer Wyborg is highly recommended, as well as the home-made lemonade. Breakfast options are also available.
Overall, Champion is an excellent place to visit for a tasty meal and a few drinks. The atmosphere is welcoming and the food is delicious. Highly recommended!
We walked around Vyborg. And, of course, we were hungry! We didn’t specifically plan dinner; we went to the Champion restaurant based on reviews. The impression is twofold. On the one hand, the place is obviously popular, the seats were all taken, we waited about 20 minutes to be seated, and during our dinner customers kept coming in for whom there were no seats. It became freer closer to half past nine in the evening. On the other hand, we still don’t understand why this place is so popular. Maybe they are working on their name and past merits. For. By the evening of January 2, many types of beer were not on the menu (“drank,” as the waiter explained), there was no herring (a much simpler appetizer) for vodka, there was no baguette, and 20 minutes after the start of dinner, horseradish was gone. They don’t do separate invoices (“this doesn’t happen on holidays,” that is, for January 2, making 3 invoices for one company is a super-complicated action). Well, we didn’t notice any particular friendliness. The sushi is delicious, the fried dumplings gave me heartburn. Overall, a so-so story. If we are in Vyborg, we will avoid this restaurant. The place is cozy (hence 2 stars), but the bar is deceiving. We ordered an Aperol cocktail, that's just the name. There is a lot of soda, you can’t feel the sparkling water at all, they poured 5 times less Aperol than it should be, only the “cocktail” was slightly tinted, they didn’t add orange. I had to go to the bartender and ask what kind of drink he made. I was told that everything was normal, I said no, in the end he nervously refilled me with more Aperol and put in an orange. But it’s still impossible to drink a cocktail. This is the service.
