Small place dishing out huge flavor! Always fresh and made with love, come to Chara's for the best soul food on Long Island. With signature dishes like Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Spicy Jerk Shrimp over Creamy Cheddar Grits and our Signature St. Louis Style Ribs, you cannot go wrong. No way these 5 star reviews are true food was so bad and not cheap. I LOVE food don't mind paying top dollar I am not cheap when it comes to good food. I'm reading all the reviews and feel like they're either fake or I'm on another planet. I was never so disappointed in my catering order of over 1000.00 dollars in my life. The food was uneatable and I'm not lying. Please before you go spend your hard earned money message me I will gladly talk to you I felt robbed small amounts of food tasted terrible threw out almost all of it and I'm not a wealthy person at all.. I felt ripped off...I truly thought I'd get pretty good home made soul food and I truly got pans of food that I literally could not eat . If your thinking of catering try small plates first before doing a big order like I did the pictures on the web look nothing like what I got . I know I said this in my last review but I threw out the whole pan of Mac and cheese it tasted like straight up cream cheese if you can screw up a Mac and cheese it's bad ...I had to rewrite this cause there is no way on earth that all the 5 stars are true unless only my stuff got messed up . I was so so do pissed that I literally just threw a grand in the garbage by trusting this place to cater my holiday .

If you want to experience some awesome home cooked traditional soul food with a creative twist, then I would highly recommend stopping by Chara's Kitchen and Catering located in Bellport, Long Island NY. My wife and I were searching for something a little different and found this place online. With great reviews which focused on the food and how clean the establishment is kept, how can we pass this up. Chara's Kitchen is located in the basement of the Shiloh Temple Church. That's right, the basement. Chef and owner Cheryl Grigg puts three main ingredients in every dish. Heart, love and passion. With over ten years of culinary experience, Cheryl incorporates such original flavors you will want to try every one of her dishes. When we walked in we were greeted by her smile and sat down comfortably in her family style seating. Her husband waited on us and was very attentive. Cheryl cooks only in small batches to ensure freshness. She also uses local produce when available. After cooking our meals, Cheryl took the time to visit us at our table exchanging stories and a few laughs. Oh, I almost forgot, Cheryl's father is the pastor of the church. Our dinner consisted of my wife's choice, shrimp with grits with a mild spicy sauce with sautéed veggies. And My choice of crab cakes and buttermilk fried chicken with collard greens and homemade potato salad. And yes, we had to try the banana pudding for desert. The meals were cooked perfect and large portions. Next time we will try the St. Louis Style ribs, grilled Atlantic Salmon and her Peach cobbler( which was sold out). Simple ambience with delicious food. Try Chara's Kitchen for a unique dining experience. Chef Cheryl will also customize any dish to your liking.
