My birthday was celebrated at The Charleston and Chef Wolfe and staff did not disappoint. It is my favorite place to eat when I visit Baltimore and look forward to many great meals to come! The food was awesome and the desserts were kicked up a notch. Still number one on my list!
Having dined here on several occasions, I will say that it is one of the classiest restaurants in the city. Although it is a nice destination for a special occasion, it is also a generally good choice for more innovative food offerings and carefully considered wine pairings. The menu is prix-fixe and offers between 3-6 courses. I've found 3-4 has always been enough for me, though I suppose it might depend on what someone wishes to order. The menu offerings change from time to time, but there are certain similar items that appear with some degree of consistency. The wine pairings are worth the extra expense, but the wine offerings are extensive, if you would prefer to order selections of your own choosing. I will say that the service can vary, I've had staff members who were slightly more attentive than others, and one would expect all of the team to be top-notch at a restaurant of this caliber. Additionally, the atmosphere is relatively quiet, so there is not very much privacy should a table be a bit loud. Overall, I'd say the Charleston is worth a visit, and provides an inviting dining atmosphere. However, some of the menu offerings could be less cliché and the service more consistent/attentive.
Went to Charleston and was amazed by the great service and elegant atmosphere. The food was very good but I think it's a bit over-priced. I give this place 5-stars for the presentation & preparation that it merits.
