If you want some of the best steak in the county...if you want the best baked potatoes and fried okra in the state...if you want some of the juiciest chicken ever...PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND COME TO THE CHATTERBOX RESTAURANT. Furthermore, if you want to witness a ridiculous display of complete unprofessional behavior and an outlandish power trip over something very minuscule and trivial, then, again, come on down to the Chatterbox! We just ate an amazing meal there, a meal which was almost ruined by the owner decided she had been lied to when our entire party had not arrived, but she understood that it had. Let me explain, she was not lied to. When it was assumed that our entire party had arrived, we were seated; but in actuality three of our members were not there yet. We thought they were just outside, but they were further away than we thought. So sorry for the misunderstanding, and I mentioned to my father in law that we might need to move if they need the table, since our members were later than we had originally thought. When our members finally did arrive, the owner poked her head just inside the area where we were seated and said in a loud tone, "So you're party had not all arrived yet? I love y'all to death, but I don't appreciate being lied to." Understand she is related to my in-laws, so I assume she felt it was okay to take her frustrations out in her very rude and unprofessional way that she did. She was told it was a misunderstanding in the conversation and she left. I can tell you my stomach began turning, and I felt my anger rising. Then I realized I shouldn't get angry. I will just simply decide to never eat there again. Heck, they probably make plenty of money from people all over the country anyway, so they don't need my measly money. I considered going and speaking with her privately, but I realized that would not work as I was too annoyed to speak with her properly. I would have gotten more angry, which does not help a situation. Plus posting everything here means more people can hear the story! :) But I have to end this entire story with a positive note! The owner came straight to my father in law while he was in line and VERY SINCERELY apologized for her behavior. She explained she was in a very frustrating situation, and we caught the brunt of her frustration. I understand she was frustrated as it took her five times to spell our name correctly when she was jotting it down. He is an understanding man, and he actually wanted to tell her he was sorry for the misunderstanding. It was a great scene to watch, which helped me feel so much better about her rudeness....except for one small thing...she was very rude and unprofessional in a loud voice right in front of other customers who couldn't help but hear it, while the apology came in a sweet, softer tone and a smile. I would like to suggest her apology come in a louder tone next time, maybe in front of the same customers who heard the rudeness. Then everyone would know she very clearly felt bad about the incident, saw the error of her ways, and is a great person for apologizing. Since that didn't happen this time, insert my post here! Everyone have a great day and visit the Chatterbox to get some great food as soon as you can!
