While visiting Porto for a very beautiful international Bible convention we stayed in Porto at a great hotel almost 2 weeks and one evening as the little party we had traveled with had a long day and were staying in for the night, my hubby and I wanted to try more traditional Portuguese food. So we walked across the street to Restaurante Cheirinho. The windows were clean, the plants very inviting and we stepped inside, though our host didn't have perfect English his courtesy was very welcoming and delightful. And with our phones and translation and some gestures we had absolutely no problem communicating! The front of the restaurant is somewhat narrow and after a hot day we wanted a bit more space so we went to the back room which opened up to very nice tables to sit 6 or 8 people. We ordered our wine, and a Coke because we were dehydrated. Our host was eager to serve and fast. I ordered the grilled tuna, and my hubby ordered the cod. By now we had a nice rapport with our host and felt at home. The food came out fast and hot. In Portugal I had noticed many foods come with French fries and rice. .I was so happy to get boiled potatos here and some greens, (I think it was cabbage) and they were absolutely delicious and flavorful. The tuna was also terrific, and so filling my hubby finished off my tuna. Our plates were clean. We were having such a nice time we were not ready to leave so we ordered a glass of port (Three Old Men) and shared a crema catalana. We had such an enjoyable time we told our friends staying at the hotel with us and we all showed up on Saturday night after our convention program. But discovered they were closed for the weekend. We're so glad we didn't miss out on this experience while visiting Porto! We had an excellent time at the restaurante! Dietary restrictions: Many many grilled options fish and beef
