I contacted Misah regarding catering for my birthday party for 30 people. From the very start, Misah and his staff were polite, professional, and friendly. My wife took me to the restaurant for lunch to sample the food a couple of days before the party. Misah was very nice in person as well. The food was freshly prepared and very delicious. All the sides were good as well; the lentil soup, cucumber yogurt, and hummus. He offered us free desserts to sample. Their homemade baklava is so good. When they prepare your catering order, they cook the kabob close to your pickup time so that it is hot and fresh when you get home. They use very good quality containers for transporting the food. Our party guests loved the food so much that we barely had any leftovers for the next day. We will definitely eat at Chelo in the future. It is a small hidden gem in Van Nuys. Good food and friendly staff. I got stuck doing jury duty and I could eat this food every day! Kabob needs to be made well and given the proper spices. They know what they're doing to say the least!

There's a new challenger for best Persian restaurant in the valley and there name is Chelo - Taste of Persia. Opening on Van Nuys Blvd across from the court house, Chelo's has added a little class to a street mostly filled with hole-in-the-wall unremarkable food. I've order from them several times and have yet to be disappointed. The saffron chicken/sirloin beef plate is tantalizingly delicious, as is their steak shish kebob. The saffron rice is flavorful unlike many of the Mediterranean restaurants I've tried in this area. My wife is a huge fan of the cucumber yogurt sauce, while their traditional hummus is to die for. The online ordering is fast and ready to go in no more than twenty minutes at their busiest time. The service is friendly , so whether you're looking for a full meal or a holdover snack such as their delicious gyro on homemade pita bread, you can't go wrong with Chelo.
