Honestly the most bizarre restaurant I’ve been to... it’s like a “basement” type restaurant, there’s only 4 tables, really small and the tables aren’t clean, I sat by the stairs and whenever people comes in and walk/skipped/ran downstairs, all the dust comes flying towards me and my food... ????????‍♀️ and that’s not all...

I came especially for the Bo Bo Chicken, so I’m not familiar with this dish and as soon as I arrived I told them this is my first time here and asked them to explain how it’s eaten... I communicate in Chinese with the lady and she acted if I know everything already... she didn’t tell me the Bo Bo Chicken are eaten cold... And I pretty much had to watch others eat to get my way around it... and there’s more... ????????‍♀️

The Bo Bo Chicken is not freshly made! They have it in a bowl with the chili, it’s been sitting there already since I arrived then you won’t know if it’s made this morning or yesterday or what? The bowl and the food in the sticks aren’t covered by plastic wraps or anything, so a fly could have dipped in without anyone knowing! Or the food is probably covered in dust!! The lady gave me a plate and she said the food in the bowl is shared, so whoever comes in and sit and eat straight away. So what she means is you share a bowl of food with loads of strangers...

Honestly I’m little bit disgusted at sharing food with strangers and I’m not sure if that’s how it really suppose to be?... because the last time I had Bo Bo Chicken at the Albany store, it was completely different! The food was freshly made there and it’s eaten cooked and warm. Although both restaurants are called Chengdu Taste, I was told they’re not owned by the same people.

Sorry I had to give it 1 star but it was overall just not up to standard for me, the food tasted average, the environment was really bad and overall it was not a great experience.

That’s all, will not return.

This place has now been replaced with 'Chengdu taste'. I naver came here while it was under the previous name. Seeing I can't find the place on the app.... Here we go. In a few words the place is unique and interesting. The place isn't very big, probably sits 10 or 12 ppl. Each table has a lucky dip of meat/vege soaking in a spicy broth. I'm talking about potato, seaweed, bean curd, sliced beef and offal. I closed my eyes and grabbed what turned out to br chicken hearts which were pretty good. Tender and spicy. I also got the spicy braised beef noodle soup which was nothing special. Your typical northern Chinese noodle soup. Hot and mouth numbing, yum
