From California with Love. During our stay in a suburb of Athens called Maroussi, we venture out in search of food nearby. We found this little restaurant that had good reviews. Upon arrival a customer figured out that we did not speak Greek and offer we to help us out. He also said that we were at the right place, that the food was great. It is advertised as healthy home made authentic Greek food. The beef I had was cooked in wine, vinegar, onion and spices, falling apart tender, with a side of white rice and a serving of refreshing tabouli. It was all DELICIOSO! Today is our last day in Athens, with several choice around, decided to walk to Chez Leons again and enjoyed another very good meal. It is really authentic, healthy Greek food made fresh everday, the menu changes on a daily basis. The restaurant is run by Chef Le Di Cani and his lovely Mom, Flora. Today I had stuffed zuchinni with beef and rice, it is called Kolokithakia Gemista. It had a delicate light cream sauce that was just perfect to complement the dish, I also had a healthy serving of Tabouli, the flavors so well balanced. My travel companion had a lasagna like dish, called Pastitsio, layered pasta like thick noodles with beef and a bechamel sauce that was divine, It was deliscious. Chef Le Di’s Mom Flora, with her sweet smile, will take care of you as if you are a family member. So if you ever find yourself in Maroussi, Athens come see for yourself and enjoy some of Chef’s Le Di Cani’s cooking. It tastes great and it feels like a warm hug from Mom.
