On arrival was met by miserable staff, only persuaded to stay by the reports of the good food - the staff were unhelpful in our ordering and when my wife asked for two entrées they mixed it up. My food was delicious and my wife enjoyed hers even though it was not what she ordered! - we did not want to make a fuss - except when the bill came and they had charged 2 full menu's - even though my wife had ended up with a soup and a salad - I politely tried to point out their mistake but they were rude and they were not prepared to mollify a potentially repeat customer! - I even asked if I could speak to the manager and was told that he would not be interested and that he was not available! - I will Not be going again and feel totally ripped off as this really spoiled our evening and also our stay in Angers - I think a bit of Staff retraining is essential !

Don't be put off by the rustic appearance of this restaurant, as it is a little gem. Lunch there was the usual limited bistrot carte of choice of 3 starters, 2 mains and 4 desserts but the cooking is perfect. We had beetroot velouté with Italian "lard" (a kind of bacon), and fried fillet of red mullet with a shellfish and leek broth. All consumed with relish. Mains were casseroled pork in its broth, and ling with beurre blanc sauce, both superb. We all had the café gourmand, a cup of coffee with 4 small desserts. Lovely. Definitely somewhere to return to! And the evening menu looks extremely seductive... Good wine list too, some unusual wines well worth trying.
