Chicken Mania, Vientiane: My Take on the Fried Chicken Lineup (and that Kimchi Rice!) Okay, so I just had another round with Chicken Mania here in Vientiane, thanks to Foodpanda. And let me tell you, when they hit, they really hit! I've tried a few things on their menu, and some are definitely going to be regulars in my rotation. The Absolute Must-Haves (My Top Picks!) First up, the Fried Chicken Kyochon. Oh. My. Gosh. This chicken is a revelation! It's got that perfect, crispy-crunchy exterior, but then you bite into it, and the chicken inside is still super juicy. The Kyochon sauce, which I'm pretty sure is that delicious soy-garlic glaze, is just addictive. It's savory, a little sweet, and coats every piece beautifully. If you're into Korean fried chicken, this is definitely one to try. It's a flavor explosion! And then there's the Fried Rice with Kimchi. Wow. This was exactly what I was hoping for. The kimchi gave it that fantastic tangy, slightly spicy kick, and the rice itself was perfectly fried – not too oily, with a great texture. It was a really satisfying and flavorful dish that paired perfectly with the chicken. Seriously good comfort food! The "Good Enough" Gang Now, I also ventured out and tried a couple of other items that were... well, okay. The Fried Chicken Salt and Pepper was decent. It had that classic salty, peppery flavor profile, and the chicken was still crispy. But after experiencing the Kyochon, it felt a little plain. It's fine if you're craving something simple, but it just didn't have that "oomph" that the Kyochon did. And the Fried Seaweed Rolls (I think they're often called Gimmari?) were also just alright for me. They were crispy, as expected, but the filling inside didn't really blow me away. They're a nice little snack, but they probably won't be a go-to order for me. The Bottom Line So, my personal takeaway from Chicken Mania is clear: lean into the Fried Chicken Kyochon and definitely grab that Fried Rice with Kimchi. Those two items are absolutely delicious and are what will keep me coming back for more. The other items were fine, but once you've had their best, it's hard to settle for anything less!
