This was a quaint place at the top of the street where the rest of the tourists were gathered after visiting the temples and bamboo forest. We ordered a lobster and chicken ramen. A quick search on Google revealed that the chicken broth was a specialty in these parts of Kyoto. I am not familiar with the cuisine at all and rarely do I order a chicken broth noodle dish. I was taken back at the taste of the creamy chicken taste of the broth. I don't think I have had broth this good, flavourful and intense. My recollection of chicken soup with noodle is straight out of a packet powdered form. The chicken breast was juicy, succulent and amazingly tender. Not dry at all. The skinless charcoal grilled sear added another dimension to the otherwise perfect broth. Here I am thinking that the broth was superb, so the protein would be just ok. I was wrong. The whole soup, chicken and noodles were delicious. We added wontons to the soup, and if was the silkiest and tofu like soft filling of presumably pork was a surprise standout. Suffice to say, I finished my whole bowl. As did my partner, who enjoyed the lobster bisque broth. Both outstanding bowls of goodness. We couldn't rate this highly enough.
