I moved to Rochester 4 months ago, having previously lived in DC. I found the food scene very underwhelming. But I'm glad to report that is jotnaj issuesl for Chortke. The lamb lollipops were easily the highlight of the meal. They arrived beautifully charred on the outside while remaining tender and juicy, with a rich lamb flavor that wasn’t overwhelmed by the seasoning. The creamy pea puree underneath added brightness and helped balance the richness of the meat, while the chickpeas, herbs, and pistachios gave the dish some welcome texture. I paired the lamb with the jasmine rice, which was an excellent complement. The rice was light, fragrant, and nicely separated rather than heavy or sticky. The crispy topping added another layer of texture, and the accompanying sauce made what could have been a basic side feel much more substantial. Overall, this was a very well-executed meal. The lamb in particular looked great on the plate and tasted like the kitchen actually paid attention to seasoning, texture, and presentation. I will certainly return. Chortke is one of those places you go when you want to have dinner with family in your home, but instead are looking for the same atmosphere and someone else to do the heavy lifting. It's such a complete and amazing experience! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
