Slow service, the staff do not come over to check unless raise your hand constantly. Waited ages for drinks to be taken and served. Music is obnoxiously loud for dinner/bar setting. Could be alot better with trained hospitality staff. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Price per person: £100+

Always a great experience dining in Chotto. The best place to enjoy Japanese and Peruvian dishes. Food and service is always 10/10 flavours and the way each dish is cooked, may it be the sushi rice or the robata to tempura dishes. Always spot on. Personal recommendations:. Yellowtail “Nikkei” (starter). Octopus (robata). Pollo Den Miso (robata). Lamb Chops (robata). Black Cod (robata). Sato Maki (sushi). Dragon roll (the best dragon roll you will ever have). I’ve been going to Chotto Matte Soho on and off for years, and it’s still one of my favourite restaurants in London. The whole place just nails the vibe, the ambience is lively without feeling chaotic and the service is great. My go-to is the Asado De Tira (beef short rib), when it’s good, it’s really good. Rich and full of flavour, and easily the star of the meal. The only thing that’s started to bug me over time is portion consistency. Some visits, the short rib alone leaves me genuinely full, like you could skip sides and still feel satisfied. Other times, the portion feels noticeably smaller, to the point where I’m still hungry even after starters and dessert. I don’t mind paying for quality, and I’m not expecting massive portions, but the unpredictability is what throws it off. A few years ago it felt much more reliable, and lately the overall trend seems to be towards downsizing. That said, the experience is good enough that we’ll probably keep coming back. I just wish they’d tighten up the consistency a bit. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £100+ Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Thank you for your loyalty over the years — that truly means a lot to us We’re so glad Chotto Matte Soho continues to be one of your favourite spots in London and that the vibe, ambience and service keep you coming back. And we couldn’t agree more — when the Asado De Tira is on form, it really is the star of the show That’s why your comments about portion consistency are especially important. We completely understand how frustrating it can feel when a dish you know and love doesn’t arrive as reliably as it used to. Consistency is key — especially for returning guests who order the same favourite time and time again. Please know your feedback will be shared with our kitchen team, as maintaining both quality *and* consistency is something we take seriously. We truly appreciate you sticking with us, and we hope your next visit delivers that perfectly satisfying short rib experience you expect every time. ️
