Went in with really high expectations for this. Some good points the venue is amazing, and a couple of the food items were excellent but overall felt like a miss. This is certainly a more expensive option at $85 per person for a set menu with no desert (3 starters and 3 mains) and this is probably the starting point for some of the issues, The Steak Tartare and the fried rice were excellent which put the rest of the offering in stark contrast. For the other starters the cured amberjack was cut too thick to work as a cured dish and the additional caviar just made it fishy, the Cheung Fun was standard and didn’t feel any different from what you could get in any run of the mill Chinese restaurant. Our hopes for an uptick with the mains quickly evaporated, I don’t really have anything to say on this..it was all pretty bland/unmentionable. The final oddity was ordering the fried rice as a side apparently replaces the steamed rice that would normally accompany the mains. Couple of problems with this firstly the fried rice is excellent by itself and adding the sauces from the other dishes in my view lessens the impact of this dish. Secondly the serving is quite small so was never going to split with the mains provided for 7 people, we asked for some plain rice and after some exchange back and forth had some additional rice provided. This was the final disappointment. The rice was overcooked/ mushy. Unfortunately at this price point it needs to be excellent and this was far from it. Maybe it was just an off day but we left feeling significantly underwhelmed. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: A$100–120 Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Went to Chow's Table for lunch as I wanted to drop by the winery next door. As a Singaporean Chinese, I found the food here to be sorely lacking. - Char sure was way too salty (even though my salt and soy sauce tolerance is fairly high). - Roti canai was not fluffy and some parts appeared undercooked (because of the thickness of the dough). I can honestly say I've had better frozen rotis from the supermarket. Waiting time for the food was extremely long - I understand that the restaurant may be understaffed but there was no attempt to manage the expectations of the patrons or to make the wait more pleasant. For instance, we were not given any small snacks to keep us munching while waiting. Restaurant has good ambience but that's about it. For the extremely high price paid (80 AUD per person), I'd expected better which is probably why I was very disappointed. This is by way of an apology for not making special mention of how great Chows Table is for weddings! I was MC at my nephew’s wedding on 5 Nov - great food, service, atmosphere - everything about Chows is sensational. Thank you from Aunty Maggie!
