The layout of this shop is incredibly well done, and the owners actually seemed great—super friendly and very easy to talk to when we first walked in. The coffee itself is also pretty decent. Unfortunately, the checkout process completely ruined the experience. There were no clear prices listed for the drinks, so we just ordered assuming standard café rates. You don't find out the total until you're already handing over your card, and the final bill was shockingly high. Around 15$ per drink for a simple latte. On top of the inflated prices, the barista at the register made the transaction feel incredibly uncomfortable, actively hovering and making us feel shamed into leaving a larger tip.To make matters worse, they have a sign right behind the counter telling customers not to complain about the prices when they hear their total. It feels pretty condescending to mock people for being surprised by a high bill, especially when you choose not to post the costs upfront and then have staff guilt them about tipping on top of it. I guess they are leaning hard into the "Citiot" name, but the whole setup just left a bad taste in our mouths. The owners have created a cool concept, but the lack of pricing transparency and the attitude at the register make it hard to recommend. Meal type: Breakfast Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

Funky Catskill coffee shop. Very funky! Staff will chat with customers, give advice, or just shoot the breeze regardless of the line . Lots of merch in the shop, they must get tourists in the winter (I think Catskill is a ski town). The cafe mocha was made with dark chocolate, really good flavor and not too sweet, but not enough steamed milk so the texture was watery rather than rich & creamy. Unique place for sure.
