Yooooooo this place is super good. Love all the meats, but the vegetarian nibbles are super good. Love the roasted cauliflower with the date sauce. Love the roasted haloumi. Love the brussel sprouts.
The wood fired flat bread is MAGIC!Tried the fried cod balls & steak along with black truffle aioli. Divine. Tasty cocktails, too! Great spot for sharing.
Friends, family, foodies... On my last visit back home, I had dinner at Ciudad Grill (in Georgetown on 12th). First off, the food was absolutely phenomenal. If you have't eaten there yet, trust me, you must. But gather 'round and listen closely, because innocently nestled in the vegetable section of the menu are the words "saffron cauliflower & sweet onion". Additionally, in smaller print below "dried apricot, hazelnut", a friendly "V" icon (vegan), and the number 11 (dollars).. I was completely oblivious that uttering those words aloud to our lovely server would result in the kitchen creating into existence what I can only describe as culinary transcendence... MY TASTE BUDS WERE NOT PREPARED. The cauliflower (a seemingly unsung hero) was fried and tenderly covered in a sinfully delicious date reduction. With each heavenly bite, curiosity turned into desperation. Eating as slowly as I could, I attempted to identify each individual flavor while taking notes in my phone and vigorously googling. I needed to know... WHAT is this? HOW is this?! And then it was gone. The internal battle against socially acceptable table manners was hard-fought but lost, and the empty plate begging to be licked clean was cleared from the table. Dinner was over. With each step towards the exit, the feeling of existential despair that I may never get my hands on the recipe grew stronger and stronger. It grows still.  SO HERE'S THE THING. If ANY of you have any type of hookup at Ciudad, or if you have a talent for food deconstruction... HELP A GIRL OUT! I'm currently sitting on my kitchen floor, staring at a box of dates and other random ingredients.. Resigned to the fact that 1. I'm about to make an absolute mess of my kitchen and 2. I'm sinking deeper and deeper into the dark place. Excuse me while I go ugly cry about living 2,391.75 miles away...
