Then I found Cloudview.
If you like Irwin's on 40th Street or Volunteer Park Cafe next to the park of the same name in Seattle, you will love Cloudview Kitchen. I am a regular. I spend a lot of time in coffee shops and cafes. I have three books by a major publisher of cafe drawings, to support my point.
Cloudview rates near the top of my favorite cafes. Everything I have eaten is amazing. I prefer vegetarian food, and I always find multiple choices on the menu.
I have recently cut back on their pastries, just because I developed an addiction to them. I am a coffee snob. I drink only Macchiato drinks. The only thing keeping from my rating their Machiatos along with those in the finest bistros is that the coffee is not served with a side shot of sparkling water, but then I am likely the only Macchiato customer within fifty miles.
The couple of complaints I have read regarding Cloudview come from people who do not understand the place.
Cloudview is not a sitdown restaurant. It is not a fastfood restaurant. Place your order, then find a table. Cloudview may not be the place to take your kids, though I often see kids there. I have to ask what half the items on the menu are. I would call the cooking bistro/street gourmet, to coin a new eating category. Go to Cloudview if you want to savor the food and atmosphere, and, if you wish, discover new new dishes to eat. Go back twice, and the third time you are most likely to be welcomed by name.
