Colette is the best bakery I have come across in Boston. Their freshly baked goods fly off the racks because the flavors and textures are just like the patisseries in Europe AND they are affordable. In a city full of $7 dollar stale croissants made with margarine, this is a slice of heaven and safe space for culinary joy. So far every single thing I’ve tried has been excellent: vanilla bean Eclair, Lemon tart (delicate light crunchy shell you would sell your soul for), pate sandwich, apple tart, canelle, croissant (did I mention the plain croissant is a little over $3 dollars?) Price per person: $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian offerings: Large vegetarian selection

Cute café/bakery in the South End. Stopped in for coffee and it was excellent quality. There was no wait since it was the middle of the day, and service was quick and very friendly, seemed like it might’ve been the owner or manager working. The space is clean with a nice minimalist vibe. They’re known for their baked goods and breads, all of which looked delicious. I didn’t try any this time, but it’s definitely a reason to come back! Price per person: $1–10 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Colette Bakery, an exquisite French patisserie gracing Boston’s South End since its 2023 opening, transports patrons to the cobbled streets of Paris with every divine morsel. Born from the vision of Nathalie and Franck Beddiar, who honed their craft in Toulouse before launching their first location in Medford in 2020, Colette’s South End outpost at 517 Columbus Avenue carries forward a legacy of unparalleled artistry. Their pastries are nothing short of sublime: buttery croissants shatter with each bite, revealing delicate, airy layers, while the Paris-Brest, swirled with velvety hazelnut praline cream, is a masterpiece of decadence. The glossy fruit tarts, adorned with jewel-like berries, and the ethereal coffee éclairs, bursting with rich, aromatic custard, evoke the elegance of a French salon. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
