Really enjoyed Cona. The restaurant has a high end feel to it with a tasteful aesthetic interior, the staff were friendly and knew their stuff, helping me pick the right steak. The steak was cooked to perfection and practically melted in my mouth. Also had the truffle gnocchi and the Mac and cheese. The food was excellent and the service was spot on. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Manchester! Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

First things first, this is a true halal restaurant - which means they don't serve alcohol. If you can't go a couple of hours without a drink - and believe me, alcohol couldn't improve this food, then perhaps you need to dine elsewhere. It's a small and intimate space with large tables so you won't feel too cramped. The menu is fairly simple and when we visited contained a number of A2 Japanese wagyu steaks. We chose the tempura prawns for a starter which arrived with a complimentary charcuterie board of their own home cured meats, some beautifully freshly baked bread and a delightfully light butter. For the mains I opted for a 10oz Japanese A2 wagyu ribeye cooked on the rare side of medium rare, and added hand cut triple cooked chunky chips. My partner opted for the fillet, again with chunky chips. We added a truffle mac and cheese and some spring veg. A question people often ask is whether wagyu is worth the hype? The answer is an emphatic yes but the true question should be; is it worth the price? My view on this has always been that yes it is for a treat - it's not something you'd have every week and in all honesty you wouldn't want to as you'd never be able to eat a normal steak again. Cooked and charred by people who respect the meat before slicing and plating it provides a meal of simplicity that is very difficult to beat. Two chefs and four front of house may seem a bit person heavy for such a small restaurant but the diner is very well looked after my people who know what they're selling and have bought into the overall quality. It may seem trivial but I think it's also worth noting that triple cut chips are probably amongst the best I've ever had. We will certainly return, quite possibly for their Sunday roast which appears very good value at £45 per head. If you like the ultimate in quality steak, and you like it served in nicely informal surroundings by people who care about the quality and service, you'd be very hard pressed to find somewhere to beat Cona. Cona Restaurant in Manchester delivers an exceptional dining experience that sets a new benchmark for refined hospitality and culinary excellence. From the moment you arrive, the décor and ambience impress—elegant, thoughtfully designed, and wonderfully spacious. The layout allows guests to dine in comfort without feeling cramped, complemented by a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere that encourages you to truly savour the experience rather than feel rushed. The starters were nothing short of outstanding. The Miso Milk-Fed Lamb Chops, Wagyu Lasagna, and King Prawn Tempura were all executed to perfection. Each dish showcased depth, balance, and precision, with flavours that were simply out of this world and genuinely second to none. A particular highlight was the soy sauce accompaniment—utterly sublime and, quite frankly, to die for. For the main course, the Australian Imperial Wagyu Rib Eye Steak, cooked medium rare, was an absolute triumph. Perfectly cooked, with extraordinary taste and texture, every bite was consistent, indulgent, and memorable. A masterclass in steak preparation. Dessert was a luxurious finale. The Peanut Butter Cornflake Tart with Strawberry Ice Cream and the Pistachio Bakewell Tart with Pistachio Ice Cream were both visually stunning and faultless in execution. Rich, elegant, and utterly divine, they rounded off the meal beautifully. The customer service deserves the highest praise. Exemplary in every sense, the staff demonstrated utmost professionalism with a genuinely customer-centric approach. A special mention must go to Rohail, the restaurant manager, who took the time to explain the entire menu in clear, accessible terms and guided us through our choices—ensuring each dish was an informed selection rather than a guess. This personal touch elevated the experience significantly. Further thanks go to our table host, Dobs, who was attentive, focused, and warm throughout the evening. Her thoughtful gesture of presenting a birthday card for my wife made the night truly special and deeply memorable. Without hesitation, this was one of the finest dining experiences I have ever had. I wholeheartedly recommend Cona to anyone seeking exceptional food, impeccable service, and an atmosphere of true sophistication.
