Looking for a no-airs-or-graces late night drinking den, packed with unusual and colorful people? Look no further. This buzzing bar/restaurant in le Marais, which opens on weekends till 4am, is a magnet for party animals of all ages and from all walks of Parisian life.The exposed beams and dark wood wouldn’t look out of place in a Bavarian tavern, while the atmosphere is reminiscent of decadent former East Berlin. By 2am on weekends, le Connétable is usually rammed to the rafters. As the small hours whizz past and even the starchy French reserve dissolves with one last drink too many, romantic prospecting and good-humored shenanigans reach comical heights.While most of the available seating is on the upper floor. socializing is usually far more interesting and intense on the ground floor, where it’s standing room only. Dozens of smokers are to be found spilling onto the street outside, where the chat is every bit as animated.An extended evening at le Connétable may give you a monster hangover, but a bagful of amusing memories should make it all worth it.
