I recently had a very disappointing experience trying to book a table at Ristorante Consorzio in Turin. First of all, they require you to make a reservation through their website, which isn’t necessarily a problem, but the fact that they force you to put down your credit card information and put an 80€ hold is completely absurd. This hold is supposedly in case you don’t show up, but I’ve never encountered this at any other restaurant, even in bigger cities. I made a reservation for two people, and it felt ridiculous to have to "secure" our spot with what felt like a ransom. It left me wondering why they can’t just adopt a normal, straightforward booking system like most restaurants. Do they not trust their customers to show up? It felt very off-putting and unwelcoming. Honestly, this kind of approach makes me hesitant to ever book again. There are plenty of other great places to eat in Turin that don’t make you jump through hoops just to get a table. I’d advise against this unless you’re comfortable with having your money held hostage before you’ve even set foot in the restaurant. Service: 1
