Food was all hot. But coleslaw had no juice or sauce. And attention to detail was lacking. I ordered a side of sour cream and didn't get it. We ordered BBQ sauce on the side and it was put on the sandwich. Not huge deals. And we would come back. But just little things. Still love cookout on all our road trips! Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $1–10

If you have ever been to someone's cookout, that is exactly what their food tastes like. I always stop here when I visit Morehead. Excellent as always. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20

I’ve honestly been avoiding leaving a review because I know mistakes happen, and if I have a bad experience somewhere once, I usually just move on. However, after dealing with the same issues at this location over and over again, I feel like it’s worth mentioning. I genuinely enjoy Cook Out’s food, which is why I keep coming back. The problem is the inconsistency. Over the past year, my order has frequently been incorrect, and the portion sizes vary dramatically from one visit to the next. The biggest example has been the cheese curds. There have been multiple occasions where I’ve received only four or five cheese curds as an entire side—not four or five missing, but literally four or five total. Other visits receive what appears to be a normal portion, (in the small French fry bag) which makes the inconsistency even more frustrating. Tonight was another example. I specifically mentioned the cheese curds while ordering because of previous experiences. I received the cheese curds, but my second side was missing altogether. I understand that different employees may prepare food differently and that mistakes happen. My frustration isn’t from one visit—it’s from experiencing the same issues repeatedly over a long period of time. Customers should be able to expect a reasonably consistent portion size and an accurate order when purchasing a tray. What has been particularly frustrating is that when these concerns have been brought to the attention of staff in the past, the smaller portions appeared to be considered acceptable rather than an exception. If the portion standard has changed, that’s one thing, but customers should receive a consistent amount each time they order. Right now, one visit may receive a normal serving while another may receive only a few pieces, making it difficult to know what to expect. I enjoy the food and would love to continue supporting this location, but I hope management takes a closer look at the consistency of both portion sizes and order accuracy.
