Puerto Rican food is good at this place. This restaurant should be recommended for perfectly cooked flank steaks, mofongo and prawns. The cooks here prepare good tres leches cakes, tostones and flans. Get your meal started with delicious white sangria, margaritas or wine. Great coffee is served at Coquito.

Musicians make live music in the evening. The pleasant staff works hard, stays positive and makes this place wonderful. Coming in, the restaurant was empty. It still took a while for anyone to come and greet us, so we sat ourselves. We ordered Empanadas 5 must try Tostones 4 crispy, but lacked flavor Mofongo pork 4 lacked flavor Mifongo beef 5 Arroz con gandules 4 lacked flavor Cuban Pork 4 moist, but lacked flavor. For a Latin cuisine, it lacked the burst of spices that sets it apart. Drinks were good.. Would we go back? Likely not, many other places to try! Should you try it, sure! It's good enough. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–50 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Empanadas, Cocktails Anyone

1st Impression: It is my hope that Valentino, the owner, really considered removing the woman he had covering the front door and serving yesterday. We had a party of 8 and spent well over $600, which wasn't worth the price. Some dishes were satisfying, but in terms of authentic PR food with the exception of the mofongo and rice and beans it doesn't pass 100%. Staff: Getting back to the person that semi greeted me when I arrived. 1. She was unaware of my reservation which I placed with Jessica and confirmed the night before again with Jessica. She seemed bothered that I entered the restaurant. She set up the tables as I was literally the only one there in front of me with an attitude. 2. As I sat waiting for my companions to arrive she didn't offer me water or ask if I needed anything. 3. She treated my guests who came from an hour away rudely. 4. She, who I heard talking in Spanish to an employee, then asked me to speak to her in English only. This is extremely inappropriate. I have every right to choose the language of my choice as a bilingual woman and was appalled by her audacity. 5. When we asked to be billed individually they angrily said that we should've told them at the beginning. We decided to figure it out on our own because we understood it can be a task for some, but was it necessary to be nasty about it? 5. She then tried to tell me that she doesn't speak Spanish as I continued to speak my native language. She's a rude liar because when I ordered in Spanish she brought me exactly what I asked for without anyone translating. Nice try! Wow, I've never seen a fellow Latina be so livid over someone speaking Spanish. You do realize it's a Spanish menu and you serve Spanish food? Therefore if someone says arroz con gandules instead of rice and beans or con cuanto viene instead how many does it come with...take it easy! Besides, shouldn't your staff know the dishes they serve in Spanish and English? Result: My companions and I travel to restaurants on a rotating basis all over Orange and Sullivan Counties month to month. Needless to say Coquito is off our traveling colleagues list! You don't deserve an annual visit from us unless Valentino does the right thing be that customer service training, multicultural training, or perhaps replacing front staff and waitresses. All options would be fair in my opinion. Valentino, I have your contact number. We can chat if you'd like. Suggestions: Oh and the tres leches left something to be desired, the silverware needs to be updated, the plastic water pitchers are unsightly and the bathrooms really need to be renovated considering the price point. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $100+ Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Recommended dishes: Sauce, Morongo with Pernil, Yuca Fries, Rice and Beans, Pulled Pork
