Beware. My review is specific to the beach area across from the ice cream shop on the Malecon, serviced by Costa Azul. In order to have a table with lounge chairs, you must buy some products whether it be drinks or food, which is understandable and how other beachfront restaurants do business in Progreso. We ordered ceviche, a side of rice and beans, and fries. One of the waiters ( the big guy who works the Malecon trying to pull you in) said we have to each order an entree which we didn’t want but he then seemed ok with it once we ordered a beer and a margarita. In total, we ordered the food, 2 beers, 1 margarita, and two bottles of water. When we got the check (1800 pesos), it seemed way high. The big guy assured us that the bill matched the menu prices. We asked to see the menu —they tried to inflate the price of each item by 40%. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
