This is the best scratch kitchen restaurant I’ve been to in New Jersey. Every dish was so intentional, and an experience. You can tell they put a lot of thought and care into each dish. Everything is made in scratch, so my dad loved the Branzino fish. I’m a huge pasta girl so I loved them as well, especially knowing they were handmade. If you are vegetarian try the spaghetti verde, it was soo delicious. Service was above and beyond here. My waitress Daniela was so sweet and attentive. Dylan is a great manager too! Cotto is more than a restaurant, it’s an experience and the best place to make memories. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Thank you so much for this incredibly thoughtful review. Reading comments like this truly means the world to our team. We put a tremendous amount of care into every detail of the menu, from our handmade pastas to our whole fish preparations, so it’s wonderful to hear that intention came through during your visit. We’re especially happy you enjoyed the spaghetti verde and the branzino. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with Daniela and Dylan as well — they’ll both be thrilled to hear they helped make your experience memorable. Thank you again for dining with us and for recognizing what we aim to create at Cotto: not just a meal, but an experience. We can’t wait to welcome you back again soon.

Overall, very good spot. Would maybe go back if the circumstances demanded, but not necessarily a spot I will go out of my way to return to. First off, the service is very good—very kind and knowledgeable server, and all things service and atmosphere related were solid. Most of the food was amazing. The focaccia is very good, the clams are also amazing. Rigatoni was solid. The croquettes are good but nothing crazy there. I tried some of the halibut and I think that was certainly the best entree we ordered. Now onto what wasn’t as good—this place is *expensive*. That’s totally fine, but my standard then is significantly higher to match the price they are demanding (and I’m now comparing it to other restaurants in that price range). And for the price, I think two items completely missed: firstly the cacio e pepe salad and secondly (and most surprisingly) the chicken. Perfectly cooked, juicy, but entirely lacking in flavor. Not sure if there was even salt in there. Asking $40 for a chicken entree and having no flavor is quite disappointing. Still worth a visit, but stick to the fish when it comes time to order entrees. BYOB. Price per person: $100+ Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Thank you for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback. We’re very happy to hear you enjoyed the service, focaccia, clams, rigatoni, and especially the halibut. We also appreciate your comments regarding the chicken. Our preparation is a bit unconventional — the chicken is fully trimmed and rewrapped with the skin, sous vide for 6 hours, and then roasted to achieve a very crisp exterior while keeping the meat juicy throughout. It’s served over fregola in our fra diavolo sauce, which does carry some spice and is intended to complement the richness of the dish. That said, we understand flavor preferences vary, and we appreciate the honest feedback as we continue refining and improving every plate we serve. Thank you again for giving us a try, and we hope to welcome you back again in the future.

This restaurant offers an incredible ambiance and is one of the top dining experiences in New Jersey. We started our meal with their delicious focaccia bread, followed by a refreshing strawberry and fennel salad and a succulent grilled octopus. Each dish was a culinary delight, crafted with the finest ingredients. For our mains, we indulged in the spicy rigatoni and branzino, both bursting with exceptional flavors. This restaurant is definitely recommended for group settings or date nights. It’s BYOB, so you can enjoy quality food with quality ingredients. Try getting a table in front of the open kitchen to watch the chef do their magic live. Price per person: $50–60 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
